The okra was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The wings were very tasty and had a "volcano" hot sauce served with them. We started with the Thai chicken wings and the fried okra. The menus were varied and each of us could find multiple items that interested us. There was a beverage menu as well as a daily lunch menu. Our party of four chose the outside option as it was a nice day. There is ample parking and seating is available both inside and outside. We had lunch at the Anvil and were pleased with our visit there. The Train Station is 5minutes walking distance from the Lodge with trains quite frequent to Wolverhampton Birmingham and Telford or Shrewsbury which ever way you are going. The next door pub the Anvil is closed however there is plenty of pubs retuarants and food outlets as you meander into the main Street in close proximity to Aston St. We arrived late due to meeting with the family and grandkids and arrived at Anvil at 23.00pm on our first night however Judith and Mick were great very accommodating showed us our room and arranged for a tight breakfast following morning which was perfectly made and to our requirements. The rooms are en-suite chalets 4No we resided in No 2 the chalet is well laid out as you enter a hall corridor the wc shower was in front of you with a good size bedroom with a triple bed and a single bed side light and cabinet with a flat screen tv also tea / coffee arrangements which was welcome when we arrived with a few bickies. Stayed at the Anvil on a recent visit to son and family in the locality. Great quality bacon and sausage along with black pudding, beans, tomatos, mushrooms and fried egg!! I had a caffatiere of coffee and my wife had a pot of tea.Ībsolutely can not recommend Anvil Lodge highly enough. We had asked for a full english and recieved an exceptional and generous breakfast. In the morning a full breakfast spread of cereal, orange juice, yoghurts and muesli was on offer. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was quiet. The bathroom again was very large with a full size bath with shower taps and a heated towel rail plus a very nice full size shower unit that would easily fit a very large man. Plenty of plugs around the room for hair dryers, straighteners and phones to be charged so that was great. On the dressing table an information pack of the local area had been provided. Tea and coffee making was in the room with 2 packets of biscuits. Very large tv on the wall with every channel we needed. We could both see the obvious pride this couple have in the place. We were shown to our room which was huge! Exceptionally clean and well cared for. The reception we recieved on arrival was friendly and personable, we were asked for our breakfast order straight away and given free choice of time to eat. Stop looking any further, this is a gem of a find.
